Clean Seawater in Albena

Published on 18 07 2026

The seawater at the beach in Albena Resort is completely clean, safe and meets the highest environmental standards.

Following reports of possible fuel oil pollution along the Bulgarian Black Sea coast, the management of the resort immediately took measures to guarantee the safety of holidaymakers. Samples were taken for quantitative laboratory analysis of seawater in front of Hotel Gergana, under test protocol No. 1540/08.07.2026, carried out by an independent accredited laboratory for petroleum products.

The official results clearly confirm that there is no oil contamination in the waters of Albena beach.

At the same time, regular microbiological testing confirms that the seawater is of excellent quality. All values are fully in line with the requirements of Regulation No. 5 of 30 May 2008 on the management of bathing water quality.

The high level of environmental control in the resort is also ensured by Albena’s own Food and Water Control Laboratory, which began operating on 1 July 2026 for the third consecutive year. During the current summer season, the laboratory also serves as a practical training base for interns from Trakia University in Stara Zagora, as part of the successful partnership between the university and Albena AD.

The laboratory’s daily testing programme includes strict monitoring of seawater and swimming pool water in the resort, drinking water, and fresh fruit and vegetables supplied by local producers.

The management of Albena AD assures all guests that the resort remains a safe, clean and peaceful place for a summer holiday, where the health and safety of visitors are a top priority.
