Air Show and a Football Legend
Spectacular Opening of the European Controllers' Cup in Albena
With a unique blend of aviation precision and football magic, the prestigious European Controllers' Cup (ECC) 2026 was officially launched today at the Albena Resort.
The opening ceremony captured the attention of hundreds of participants and guests at 10:30 AM with a breathtaking aerial display. In honor of the aviation elite gathered in Bulgaria, two Su-25 ground-attack aircraft from the Bezmer Air Base performed a demonstration flyover above the resort's stadiums. The appearance of these "flying tanks" served as a symbolic gesture to the professionals who ensure the safety of Europe's skies every day.
The special guest of the event was Bulgarian football legend Dimitar Berbatov. He not only attended the official opening but actively participated in a demonstration match, showcasing the world-class skills that made him a global icon.
The tournament takes place from May 11 to 16, featuring a record-breaking 41 teams from 27 countries competing for the title in Albena.
