Regarding the security of communication in connection with hotel reservations

Dear Customers,

“Albena” AD has received reports of misleading messages sent via WhatsApp by persons claiming to represent the company or to be its partners.

Some of these messages contain actual data related to hotel reservations, such as the customer’s name, hotel, period of stay, reservation value or reservation number. The messages contain links to unofficial websites and may ask the recipient to confirm their reservation.

“Albena” AD has taken the necessary technical and organisational measures to establish the circumstances, limit the risk and protect its customers. The competent supervisory authority and the identified affected persons have been informed. The review is still ongoing and, if necessary, additional measures will be taken.

At present, there is no confirmed information about unauthorised payments or financial losses resulting from these messages.

How to recognise official communication

Official confirmation messages regarding completed reservations are sent from the following email address:

confirmation@albena.bg

The official email address of the Call Center of “Albena” AD is:

online@albena.bg

“Albena” AD does not send WhatsApp links requiring the repeated confirmation of a reservation or the entry of payment card details on an unofficial website.

The presence of accurate reservation data in a message is not sufficient proof that the message was sent by “Albena” AD.

Our recommendations

Do not open links received via WhatsApp or any other unofficial communication channel if they require payment, repeated confirmation of a reservation or the entry of personal or payment data.

Do not provide payment card details, passwords or confirmation codes to unknown persons and do not enter them on unofficial websites.

If you receive a suspicious message, please save a screenshot of the correspondence, the number or profile of the sender and the link contained in the message.

If you have already entered payment card details or made a payment via such a link, contact your bank immediately. Request that your card be blocked or monitored and check your account for unfamiliar transactions.
