May holidays at the Albena Resort starts with the "Divertimento" Piano Trio, who will enchant guests and music lovers with the magic of the waltz on May 1st and 3rd.
Graziella Panayotova (violin), Sofia Radilova (cello), and Mladen Taskov (piano) will present their musical program "Just Waltz," featuring famous waltzes by Johann Strauss, Franz Lehár, Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, Dmitry Shostakovich, Aram Khachaturian, Leonard Bernstein, and more. The host and soloist for the evening is the opera singer Milena Gyurova.
"Divertimento" concert series was established in 2014 with the ambitious goal of creating and promoting educational musical programs. At the heart of this project is the namesake trio, which has attracted a community of like-minded professionals — scriptwriters, directors, choreographers, and soloists — all united by the desire to create meaningful and impactful concert programs for young audiences.
With its rich repertoire and active stage presence, Trio Divertimento has established and refined the concert-performance format — a space where music and text intertwine to reveal the context, history, and emotional depth of the works.
Today, Trio Divertimento boasts 17 original concert programs in its repertoire, catering to a wide audience. Notable titles include "Who Stands Behind the Music," "Child Prodigies in Music," "Song Stories," "The Ballet Tells a Story," "Winter Joy," "Seasons in Music and Verse," "What is a Waltz," "The Bluest Magic," "Four for Tango," "In the Year of Czech Music," and "A Journey into the Time of Maria of Edinburgh."
The concert-performance "Seasons in Music and Verse" was honored with the "Musical Project of the Year" award in the Bulgarian National Radio's "Musician of the Year 2022" rankings.
The concert-performance "What is a Waltz" is a musical journey through the history and charm of the waltz — from its roots to its transformation into a symbol of elegance and romance, despite initial criticism from conservative circles. The program includes inspiring works by Johann Strauss, Franz Lehár, Émile Waldteufel, Carl Maria von Weber, Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, Aram Khachaturian, Leonard Bernstein, Erik Satie, and Eugen Doga.
The waltzes are presented in their full emotional palette — ethereal, romantic, bravura, captivating, and sometimes melancholic — performed by Trio Divertimento: Graziella Panayotova (violin), Sofia Radilova (cello), and Mladen Taskov (piano). The soloist and host is soprano Milena Gyurova, who will guide the audience through this exquisite musical experience in both German and Bulgarian.
