The event gathered guests and employees of the resort
Sustainable Energy Days in Albena Resort is an event, which Albena Resort organized as a part of the European Sustainable energy days. It was organized for the first time but attracted the interest of many guests and employees of the resort.
„We do our best to continue creating a sustainable touristic product, which is either  competitive or environmentally friendly” – these were the words, part of the opening speech of the event, driven by Dimitar Stanev – deputy director of Business Development.
The first part of the program included four presentations. The speakers were: eng. Dimitar Stanev, Brayan Pelerin – Norway researcher of sustainable energy and creator of the INVADE 2020 Project; eng. Svilen Piralkov – system architect in the Business Development Department in Albena JSCo and eng. Denitsa Kuzeva – Project manager in the same department. Moderator of the event was Victoria Simeonova – Head of the Advertising and Communications department in Albena JSCo.
During his presentation, Dimitar Stanev presented the strategy of sustainable development which Albena created and follows since several years. He explained the measures taken by Albena to increase its own renewable energy production, save water, impose its own organic fruit, vegetables and meat, as well as reduce waste production. The success of free electric transport has been highlighted, making it unnecessary for private tourists inside the complex, which contributes to the peace and security of pedestrians. He presented the quest for more and more circular economy and how the companies of the Albena family care about the environment.

The second speaker, Brian Pellerin from Smart Innovation Norway, presented the INVADE project, within the framework of the European`s Horizon 2020 program, where Albena is also a partner as pilot. The project is about integration of Electric Vehicles and Batteries in the electricity distribution system. It focuses on the benefits of energy storage and the ability to contribute to the stability of the modern electricity network.
The third presentation was by Eng. Svilen Piralkov. He explained in detail how the domestic hot water production in Albena is done in a smart way depending on various factors such as sunshine and current electricity prices. Albena has set up its own water resource monitoring and management system, which contributes to the stability and reliability of supply. Piralkov presented the hotels in Albena, which have solar thermal buffers and their energy efficiency that reach enviable values.
The last presentation was by Eng. Denitsa Kuzeva. She has shared about the concepts of circular economy and why it is important to implement that in a modern society. She focused on waste processing to obtain new quality products and their multiple future use. The mechanism, which she presented is successfully applied in many places in Albena.
After the presentations, the guests had lunch and then had the opportunity to learn about how the electrical batteries function.
In the afternoon, all the guests went to track live the processes described in the presentations that took place earlier. They went to the organic gardens of Eco Agro and to the biogas power plant of Perpetuum Mobile in Momchil base. For the movement of the whole group of nearly 50 enthusiasts, Albena`s electric bus was used inline with the Electric vehicle topic. At the Eco Agro base, the guests of the event saw closely how electricity and heat are produced. Another interesting moment of their tour was the meeting with the Black Angus breed cows, known for their high quality and the unique taste of the meat. In the gardens of Eco Agro, guests picked themselves and enjoyed the taste of bio-cherries from several varieties: rake, cordia, paints, skins and carmen. After that, they had the opportunity to taste the wine Gerania, also produced by Eco Agro entirely for Albena.
The Sustainable Energy Days in Albana was part of the European Sustainable Energy Week, organized annually by the European Commission. It aims the involvement of municipalities, companies, NGOs and end-users, with the common ambition for energy transition and care about environmental protection by using sustainable energy and renewable sources.
The guests of the event were mix of employees of Albena, representatives of the business, partners and institutions - all united by the idea of stimulating and improving the National sustainable development policy, which is innovative for Bulgaria and to which Albena already commits. The organizers promised this to be just the beginning of a traditional event to showcase their progress on all environmental projects
