Young Folklore Talents in Concert in Albena
An ensemble of outstanding young musicians from the Dobri Hristov National School of Arts in Varna will officially open the series of folklore performances in Albena.
The musical event will take place on 27 August at 9:00 p.m. at the iconic Ganvie Beach Bar, and admission is free for all guests of the resort.
The audience can look forward to a rich and emotional programme featuring some of the finest examples of Bulgarian musical folklore. The evening will begin with the emblematic Rhodope Medley, bringing together the beloved songs “Bela sam, bela, yunache”, “Ripni, Kalinke”, “Pusto, ludo i mlado”, “Borzala Ruzhka” and “Stiga mi se, momnele”.
The programme will continue with a colourful Dobrudzha Medley, virtuoso instrumental performances and the classics “Lale li si, zyumbyul li si”, “Ivano, mari Ivanke” and “Milo mi e, mamo”.
The soloist of the evening is folk singer Nikol Nikolova, whose voice has already impressed the juries of numerous prestigious national competitions.
Joining her on stage are the talented young instrumentalists:
Ivan Yordanov – gaida, winner of first prizes for authentic performance;
Alexander Todorov – tapan, awarded for rhythm and ensemble performance;
Thomas Tsakiris – kaval, winner of gold medals at youth folklore festivals.
The young musicians are among the most promising students of the Dobri Hristov National School of Arts in Varna and have already received numerous awards, diplomas and special prizes at prestigious national and international folklore events.
The concert at Ganvie Beach Bar is another example of how the new generation of musicians is preserving and passing on Bulgaria’s cultural traditions.
