The sustainable management of the beach of Albena Resort has been awarded by the Blue Flag Program. At the end of last week, an international jury voted for the best beach management practices in the world in two main areas - energy saving and management and accessibility, and the Bulgarian representative is in the top three in terms of energy management. "We congratulate the team of Albena Resort for achieving a high result in the world ranking, but most of all for the fact that the measures they are implementing regarding sustainable energy management are successful and yield remarkable results," said Stanimir Georgiev - Chairman of the Board of the Bulgarian Blue Flag Movement. He added that the awarded best practices will be promoted through the global organisation's channels and the winners will receive a special certificate.
The main motivation for the award is the overall management concept of the company, expressed in the Sustainable Development Strategy adopted in 2017. Emphasis is placed on the activities of building solar power plants for electricity generation and domestic water heating; biogas production from biodegradable waste from the core business; investments in e-mobility; environmentally friendly attitude to nature, including the Baltata Nature Reserve; internal systems for separate waste collection; integration of spring mineral water into the overall consumption chain; production of fruit, vegetables and meat, as well as food products derived from them. Albena Resort has been awarded the Blue Flag since 1996.
