The topic of the competition was Balkan gourmet / ethnic cuisine
Two top chefs from Albena presented themselves in the category "Best Chef of the Bulgarian Hotel and Restaurant Association 2019": Ivan Georgiev from the "Flamingo Grand Hotel and Spa" was ranked third, followed by Zhivko Stoyanov immediately after him, from the Montgolfie Restaurant - Maritim Hotel Paradise Blue.
One of Albena's representatives in the competition for the first time was a jury - chief chef Simeon Simeonov. He participated in the race in 2004.
"It is a little more difficult and responsible to evaluate, but the jury was composed of quite well known and experienced colleagues in the kitchen. We did our best to make the ranking as fair as possible," he said after the competition.
The main criteria for evaluating the participants are: preparation and hygiene at the workplace, safety at work, use of different techniques, adherence to the time for preparing and serving the dishes, innovation in the presentation of the given menu and of course taste and presentation.
In addition to the main categories - Best Chef and Best Pastry chef, many participants this year were also in the youth categories - Best Young Chef and Best Young Pastry Chef. Several worthy participants participated in those categories from the Professional School of Tourism "P. K. Yavorov" in the town of Dobrich - a high school with which Albena works on a dual training project.
